An Iowa City man was arrested and charged with his 3rd OWI after an accident Friday afternoon.
Shortly after noon, 36-year-old Almamy Ndiaye of Heinz Road was southbound on the 900 block of Mormon Trek Boulevard and was involved in an accident where he reportedly rear-ended two vehicles.
Upon contact, Ndiaye reportedly seemed confused and had poor balance. Field tests allegedly showed impairment, and a DRE was consulted. An evaluation concluded that Ndiaye was under the influence of a central nervous system depressant and unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Ndiaye was charged with OWI third offense and could be sentenced to up to five years in prison if convicted.
