A second area transient has been arrested in the alleged theft of clothes from an Iowa City laundromat.

The alleged victim reports leaving her clothes in a dryer at Clean Laundry on Highway 1 West the evening of February 13th.  She came back to retrieve the items the next day and noticed they were gone. Security video reportedly shows 34-year-old Dustin Wimer and a co-defendant enter Clean Laundry at about 3:00 on Valentine’s Day morning, load the woman’s clothes into a cart and leave the business with the clothes and the cart. The clothes were valued at $800; the cart cost $250.

The second suspect has been identified as 60-year-old Tracy Ayers. A warrant for his arrest was issued,  and he was booked at the Johnson County Jail Friday. Wimer was arrested on February 26th.

Both Ayers and Wimer have been charged with 3rd degree theft and could be sentenced to up to two years in jail apiece if convicted.
