A Coralville man faces prison time after a domestic incident involving a firearm.

Officers responded to an incident Saturday afternoon at an apartment on the 400 block of the Coralville Strip involving 34-year-old Quellis Walker and his significant other.  During the altercation, Walker allegedly drew a firearm from his waistband and brandished it, pointing it at people on scene.  He then reportedly hit the significant other in the head with the firearm in his hand.

When officers attempted to make contact with Walker, the victim and other witnesses on 4th Avenue, he ran from officers despite being told to stay put.  During the pursuit, Walker allegedly tossed the firearm into a bush.

Walker was not allowed to possess a weapon because of a prior arrest and conviction for Domestic Abuse causing Bodily Injury from 2017.

He was arrested and charged with Assault while Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, Person Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons, Domestic Abuse Assault with the use of a Weapon, and Interference with Official Acts. If convicted on all counts, Walker could be sentenced to over five years in prison.

A no-contact order was requested between the two parties.
