Iowa City man faces jail time after being found with firearm and drugs

An Iowa City man faces up to two years in jail after a search warrant of his vehicle and residence reportedly turned up a firearm and marijuana.

Police executed a search warrant on a vehicle being operated by 22-year-old Dangelo Washpun of the Quarters on Highway 6 East on Friday morning. Inside, detectives reportedly found a Glock handgun and a marijuana roach.

Another search warrant was executed at Washpun’s residence, where an additional quantity of marijuana was allegedly found in his bedroom.

Washpun was charged with marijuana possession and person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons, both serious misdemeanors. He posted bond and awaits further court dates..
