Quad Cities man arrested in Iowa City after being found  in possession of stolen vehicle, drugs

A Quad Cities man has been arrested in Iowa City after police say he was found driving a stolen car with drugs inside.

Iowa City Police noticed a stolen Chevy Silverado as it was driving on Highway 6 near Gilbert Street just before 5:00 Friday night. The officer followed the vehicle to the Dollar General on Highway 1 West. The driver, identified as 39-year-old Lucas Clevenger of Davenport, was taken into custody after he exited the car. A search of the vehicle reportedly turned up suspected heroin and a glass smoking pipe with residue.  Clevenger allegedly admitted the substance was heroin.

Police say traffic cameras show Clevenger driving the car throughout Iowa City.

Clevenger is charged with 1st Degree Theft, Possession of a Controlled Substance  -3rd or Subsequent Offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving While Suspended. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over 15 years in prison.
