Allegedly shattering an entrance door to Stanley Residence Hall has led to charges against a University of Iowa student.

UI Police say just after noon on February 15th 19-year-old Carter Schlotman kicked the glass vestibule door, causing it to shatter. The cost to replace the glass was $589.69.

The incident was caught on security video, and Schlotman reportedly admitted to the act. A witness corroborated Schlotman’s version of events.

Schlotman, who lives at the East Davenport Street dormitory, is charged with 4th Degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
