Iowa DOT news release
DAVENPORT, Iowa – Feb. 20, 2024 – If you drive on westbound Interstate 80 in Coralville you need to be aware of a construction project for the new I-80 and 1st Avenue interchange that may slow down your trip.
Construction crews need to close the westbound I-80 exit ramp at the 1st Avenue interchange (exit 242) as they prepare to construct the new westbound I-80 exit ramp. The closure is set to take place overnight Wednesday, Feb. 21 starting at 10 p.m. and will reopen Thursday morning, Feb. 22, by 6 a.m., weather permitting.
If you are traveling to 1st Avenue during this closure, you’ll follow a marked detour to the westbound I-80 off-ramp at Coral Ridge Avenue (Exit 240) and then will use eastbound I-80 to reach 1st Avenue.
Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
