Coralville Police say a Black Hawk County man kicked in an apartment door, then tried to flee from their officers.

According to arrest records, 19-year-old A’Lijah Johnson of Waterloo tried to forcefully enter an apartment at Riverview Square on Hayden Fry Way at about 8:30 Tuesday morning. The resident told Johnson to leave. He allegedly refused, then  kicked in the door, causing an estimated $500 in damage.

Police say Johnson fled from them as they were conducting their investigation. He was eventually captured and restrained, but investigators allege he initially gave them someone else’s name and address before they discovered his true identity.

Johnson is charged with 4th Degree Criminal Mischief, Trespass Causing Over $200 in Damage, Interference With Official Acts and Providing False Identity Information. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 26 months in jail.
