Cedar Rapids man accused of smashing car with rock in Iowa City

A Cedar Rapids man is accused of using a rock to cause thousands of dollars in damage to a car in Iowa City.

29-year-old Karl Berry of Sierra Drive NE was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 4:00 Tuesday afternoon. Iowa City Police say security video shows Berry approach a vehicle parked at The Quarters on Highway 6 East multiple times after 11:00 on the night of December 1st. Berry allegedly used a rock to smash the rear windshield, and several words were etched into the paint where Berry had approached the vehicle. Damage was estimated at $3,160.40.

Berry is charged with 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
