An Iowa City man was taken into custody over the weekend after a November incident where shots were fired from his residence.

On the afternoon of November 8th, officers executed a search warrant on the 1800 block of South High Street after a report of several shots fired.  Multiple shell casings were located outside of the residence of 32-year-old Terrell Scott.

During the execution of the search warrant, police reportedly found Scott and a Smith & Wesson pistol.  An investigation found Scott on video several weeks earlier holding the same gun, and he allegedly admitted that the gun in the video was a firearm.

Scott was convicted of Going Armed with Intent back in 2019 and is not allowed to possess a firearm.

After an arrest warrant was issued, Scott was booked at the Johnson County Jail in the early hours Sunday. He’s charged with Dominion or Control of a Firearm as a Felon, a Class D felony that could lead to a five year prison sentence if he’s convicted of the charge.
