Iowa City Police have arrested another person who allegedly was part of a riot on New Year’s Eve in the city’s downtown area.

19-year-old Madison Hayes of Tempe Arizona was taken into custody Thursday morning. According to the arrest report, Hayes willingly involved herself in a large fight just before midnight December 31st on the 100 block of College Street. Hayes engaged with at least four other people by physically and violently fighting with those individuals. Multiple injuries were reportedly suffered by those involved.

Police say Hayes had multiple opportunities to disengage herself and stop fighting but chose to repeatedly re-engage with the individuals.

She has been charged with Participating in a Riot, a Class D Felony punishable by a five-year prison term if convicted.
