A Cedar Rapids man is accused of injuring a teenager in an early morning drunk driving accident in Swisher.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Layton Baber of 6th Street SW crashed his 2015 Chevy Impala into a concrete bridge on Swisher View Drive near 3rd Street at 2:15 Sunday morning. Deputies say Baber showed signs of intoxication, performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and provided breath alcohol levels of .285% and .253%. A 17-year-old girl in the back seat suffered a large laceration on her forehead that required transport by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Baber is charged with Operating While Intoxicated and Serious Injury By Vehicle. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of six years in jail.
