A Cedar Rapids man faces charges that he sent pornographic images to and tried to entice sex with a person he believed to be a minor.

Iowa City Police say 64-year-old Mark Sevcik of East Road SW began communicating with a female he believed to be under the age of 16. Between August of last year and January 3rd, Sevcik reportedly sent hundreds of texts to the person as well as dozens of pornographic videos, memes and photographs. Many of the texts reportedly explained he wanted to do to the recipient what was being depicted in the images. At one point, Sevcik allegedly sent the other person a photo of his penis, telling her, “His name is ‘Veiny’.”

Police say Sevcik later told the recipient to delete all communications with him and that he would bring her underwear. A search warrant executed on Sevcik’s vehicle reportedly turned up the underwear, condoms and personal lubricant.

Sevcik was booked into the Johnson County Jail at 4:15 Thursday morning and charged with three counts of Telephone Dissemination of Obscene Materials to a Minor and one count of Enticing a Minor. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of 11 years in prison.
