A third suspect has been charged in connection with a New Year’s Eve riot on the Ped Mall.

23-year-old Eugina Mishark of Ames is charged with Participating in a Riot. Iowa City Police say Mishark, 18-year-old Taylor Robinson and 20-year-old Demarcus Robertson-Ray…both of Cedar Rapids…willingly involved themselves in a large fight with at least four other people outside DC’s on South Dubuque Street just after 11:45 on the night of December 31st. Multiple people were injured…some requiring hospitalization.

Like Mishark, Robinson is also charged with Participating in a Riot. If convicted, they each face a maximum of five years in prison. Robertson-Ray is charged with Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, Participating in a Riot and Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury. He’s accused of injuring three different people, including knocking one unconscious, causing serious injuries to another, and injuring the mother of his child.

If convicted on all four charges, Robertson-Ray faces a maximum of 18 years in prison. He was given a deferred judgment after his involvement in a December 2021 riot in the Capitol Street parking ramp during which he allegedly fired several gunshots at other people. Robertson-Ray himself was shot and required hospitalization.
