Police have arrested an Iowa City woman they say called in a threat to one of Mercy Hospital’s satellite clinics.
47-year-old Stephanie Robinson of Western Road was booked into Johnson County Jail just after 10:30 Thursday morning. Iowa City Police say Robinson called the Mercy clinic on North 1st Avenue just after 8:15 that morning and stated several times over a four-minute conversion that she was going to shoot up the clinic and kill Mercy staff. The threats caused all Mercy clinics, including the main hospital, to go into temporary lockdown.
When Robinson was taken into custody, she allegedly admitted to calling Mercy but denied making threats. She’s charged with Threats of Terrorism. If convicted, she faces a maximum of five years in prison.
