The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has taken into custody a man who allegedly facilitated the sale of the gun used to kill a Cedar Rapids man.

29-year-old Tyrelle Harris Jr. was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 6:45 Monday night. Online records show he is being held at the request of the Shannon County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office..

According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, on November 27th deputies located an abandoned 2021 Dodge truck near a small wooded area in the 1400 block of Hwy 6 NW north of Oxford.  The Sheriff’s Office soon learned the truck was owned by 31-year-old Shawn Kiger of Cedar Rapids, who had been reported missing to the Winona, Missouri police department four days earlier.  On December 14th, law enforcement located Kiger’s body in a wooded area in rural Shannon County.

Missouri authorities say Kiger wanted to buy his wife a gun and was told by Harris that 32-year-old Kyle Sebree of Winona, Missouri had been advertising firearms for sale on Snapchat. Kiger drove to Missouri, where he allegedly did meth with Sebree before Sebree drove Kiger’s truck to a wooded area, tied him up and shot him in the back of his head with the help of a man named “Alex”. A man who had been with Kiger on the trip to Missouri then drove Kiger’s truck back to Iowa and ditched it north of Oxford.

Sebree and 41-year-old Heather McClendon…also of Winona, Missouri… are each charged with 1st Degree Murder. Sebree is also charged with 1st Degree Kidnapping, while McClendon faces an additional charge of Tampering with Evidence. That charge comes after McClendon allegedly took the murder weapon to Arkansas and sold it for $100.

Harris was still at the Johnson County Jail awaiting extradition as of Wednesday morning. Any pending charges against him are not listed.
