A Tiffin man is accused of causing thousands of dollars in damage to various items inside an apartment he shares with his ex.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says it was dispatched to a domestic disturbance on Village Drive just before 4:15 Friday afternoon. Arrest records indicate 25-year-old Cole Wheeldon was involved in an argument with his ex when he pushed her over a couch, causing redness, pain and bruising. The two had been in a long-term relationship and recently broke up, but they are still living together.

Investigators say over the course of the argument Wheeldon allegedly destroyed several of the woman’s belongings, including a desktop computer, a computer monitor, a camera, and a humidifier. The total cost to replace the damaged items is $2,087. Deputies say Wheeldon then took the monitor and the camera into the timber in an effort to hide them.

The victim reported Wheeldon would not let her leave the premises during the altercation.
Arriving deputies searched Wheeldon’s room, where they reportedly found what they describe as “a very large water bong with water and residue inside of it”, as well as a grinder with a small amount of marijuana inside.

Wheeldon is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury, 4th Degree Criminal Mischief and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 25 months in jail.
