An Iowa City woman who allegedly stole a credit card and ran up charges in early 2023 has been taken into custody.

Police say 32-year-old Emily Jones of Shady Glen Court reportedly stole the card from a victim while she was at her workplace.  Between January 17th and 31st, Jones then allegedly used the credit card number to make several online purchases using alias names and email addresses. She had them shipped to an address that was not hers.

A search warrant was served at the Jones’, where investigators reportedly recovered items purchased with the stolen credit card number.

A warrant was issued last May; she was booked at the Johnson County Jail Wednesday afternoon. She faces a count of Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card, an aggravated misdemeanor. If convicted on the charge, she could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
