A North Liberty man was arrested over the weekend after trying to hide from officers attempting to serve a warrant.

Officers arrived at the Zeller Street residence of 49-year-old Luis Socarras Ramos Saturday at approximately 7:41 pm to serve the warrant for failure to appear at a Case Management Conference on charges of OWI second offense. Contact was made between the officers and Ramos, as they could see him through the front window of his residence and were able to verify his identity visually.

Ramos was made aware of the warrant and was told to open the door and come outside. Instead, Ramos reportedly hid downstairs, away from officers.

He was detained and charged with Interference with Official Acts, a serious misdemeanor. If convicted on the OWI charge, Ramos could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
