An Iowa City man was charged with OWI and violations of a no-contact order after allegedly driving drunk to the protected party’s residence to see his child.

Police report that 44-year-old Timothy Herzog, who lists his current address as the Travel Lodge, reportedly drove his 2015 Dodge Ram to the residence Friday at approximately 5:25pm, and used his garage door opener to gain entrance. He then allegedly tried to use his key to make entry into the home but was stopped by the victim’s family member. They held the door shut and blocked it, but then Herzog reportedly went to the front door and again tried to gain access into the home.

The protected party said they witnessed Herzog drive the truck to the residence; he allegedly admitted to officers that he was intoxicated but just wanted to see his child.

After being booked at the Johnson County Jail for OWI first offense, Herzog allegedly began calling the protected party at approximately 6:41pm, leaving her voice mails and multiple text messages.

He was charged with four counts of violation of no contact order as well as the OWI; if convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 16 months in jail.
