An Iowa City man was arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly assaulting the mother of his two children and leaving the scene with his daughter.
Officers responded to the 900 block of Crosspark Ave for a domestic incident reported by a third party at approximately 1:18pm. On scene, the victim alleged that 32-year-old Joel Seals, who is the father of her two children, smashed her phone, pushed her to the ground, and held her down, leaving abrasions and cuts to her collarbone/shoulder area.
The woman stated that during the incident, their one year old daughter was knocked down and under her. Seals then reportedly took the one year old and left the scene, and was later located at the residence of a family member.
Seals has two domestic assault convictions from June of 2022.
He was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault 3rd or subsequent offense, and Child Endangerment. If convicted on both counts, Seals could be sentenced to up to 7 years in prison.
