A woman claims her ex-boyfriend held her against her will for two days at his Iowa City apartment until she agreed to sign over her car to him.

The alleged victim told Iowa City Police that 20-year-old Ghasan Saad prevented her from leaving his East Washington Street apartment on Friday and Saturday. She claims on multiple occasions she tried to leave, but Saad would block the door. At one point, he allegedly forcefully corralled her to the ground, giving her a prolonged headache.

Police say Saad told the woman he would only let her leave if she signed over the title to her vehicle to him. She eventually did under the alleged threat of physical harm.

Saad was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 8:00 Christmas Eve night and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury, False Imprisonment, Extortion, and a no-contact order violation. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
