A trial date has been set for a man who allegedly owned the gun used in a shooting earlier this year at the Clock Tower parking ramp in Iowa City.
Investigators say 24-year-old Narada Poole Jr. of West Des Moines was the owner of the gun his brother, 22-year-old Marquel Poole, transferred to 22-year-old Alexander Voudhivong of Iowa City. Voudhivong reportedly shot a man multiple times in the parking ramp on the night of May 13th. Police say he fled the scene, changing clothes nearby in an attempt to disguise himself before leaving the area. The firearm was later recovered at the scene.
Poole Jr. is charged with Prohibited Transfer of a Firearm to an Unauthorized Person and Dominion or Control of a Firearm by a Felon. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison. Late last week, Judge Jason Burns set a trial date of March 26th. A case management conference is scheduled for February 12th.
Marquel Poole is charged with Dominion or Control of a Firearm by a Felon, Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon Causing Injury, Assault While Participating in a Felony, and Going Armed With Intent. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 35 years in prison.
Voudhivong faces the same charges except Dominion or Control of a Firearm by a Felon. He also faces additional charges of Reckless Use of a Firearm Causing Property Damage and 4th Degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted on all charges, Voudhivong faces a maximum of 33 years in prison.
