Iowa linebacker Nick Jackson has been granted an additional year of eligibility.

That’s according to 24/7 Sports, which cited Iowa SWARM CEO Brad Heinricks as the source of its Christmas night report. Heinricks says the NCAA granted a waiver to Jackson to play an additional season, if he so chooses. He could still decide to enter the NFL draft.

Jackson was a three-time all-ACC selection at Virginia before transferring to Iowa ahead of last season. In 2023 he was selected to numerous all-Big Ten teams and he was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after the Hawkeyes’ 26-16 win over Michigan State. His 99 tackles rank second on the team and 7th in the Big Ten.

17th-ranked Iowa leaves for Orlando today (Tuesday) for the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, where they’ll take on #21 Tennessee at noon on New Year’s Day on ABC.
