A North Liberty woman was arrested Sunday afternoon after allegedly assaulting two children and locking them out of their residence.
According to police, the two children walked blocks to the nearest store in 35-degree weather just before 6pm to call police. They were minors and not dressed sufficiently for the temperatures. Both told officers that 40-year-old Ciji Fox of Heritage Place physically assaulted them before throwing them out. She then put a security bar on both doors, preventing them from getting back into the residence. The children complained of pain, but there were no visible marks.
Fox was described as “extremely intoxicated” in the arrest report, with balance issues, slurred speech, and the odor of ingested alcohol. The kids alleged that she had been drinking all day, and other witnesses allegedly reported hearing yelling and screaming from the residence all day. Both children said they were afraid to go back to the residence.
Fox was taken into custody and charged with two counts of Child Endangerment. If convicted, she could be sentenced to up to four years in jail.
