Davenport man accused of vandalizing three vehicles on UI campus

A Davenport man faces charges after he allegedly vandalized three vehicles in a University of Iowa parking lot.

According to police, 45-year-old Jerry Andrews of Elm Street was previously involved in an altercation with the owners of the three vehicles parked in lot 3 on October 21st.  At approximately 6:15 that evening, Andrews was allegedly observed on camera pulling an unknown object out of his pocket. He then reportedly walked around to the driver’s side of a 2021 Chevy Silverado and a 2013 Chevy Tahoe, as well as the passenger side of a 2022 Hyundai Tucson and intentionally caused damage to them.

Damage to the Silverado was estimated at nearly $3450; the Tahoe, over $1400; and the Tucson nearly $3100.

Andrews was taken into custody late Thursday night. He faces three counts of 2nd degree Criminal Mischief and could be sentenced to up to fifteen years in prison if convicted.
