Cedar Rapids apartment fire sends woman to hospital with injuries

A Thursday night apartment fire in Cedar Rapids sent one woman to the hospital with injuries.

Crews were dispatched to the 300 block of 30th Street Drive SE just before 10:45 on reports of an apartment fire.  Firefighters arrived on scene and found an apartment complex with smoke showing. The fire was quickly brought under control in one of the apartments. Fire and water damage was limited to the apartment of origin, while the rest of the building suffered light smoke damage.

According to a release from the Fire Department, smoke alarms were working at the time of the fire.

There was one occupant in the apartment that caught fire; she suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
