Family displaced after Coralville fire

A Coralville family has been displaced after a Friday night house fire.
According to a news release from the Coralville Fire Department, firefighters responded to a building fire on the 2100 block of Westminster Circle at approximately 8:00. The fire was contained to the main floor of the home and extinguished quickly after the fire department arrived. The home sustained major smoke damage throughout. No one was home at the time of the fire.

A family dog was found inside and was unable to be revived. One adult and five children were displaced, and the Red Cross is assisting them in finding shelter. Firefighters remained on the
scene until about 10:30.

The cause of the fire is ruled to be accidental but is still under investigation. The damage is estimated at around $100,000.
