The 2024 Democratic Caucus in Iowa will feature more than one candidate on their preference cards.
The Iowa Democratic Party State Central Committee has ratified the 2024 presidential preference cards for voters to use during their caucus process next year.
President Biden, Minnesota Congressman Dean Phillips, and Marianne Williamson met the criteria for appearing on the party’s preference card. Voters will also have the choice to say they’re uncommitted to either candidate.
Iowa Democrats lost their first-in-the-nation status after the Democratic National Committee decided Iowa lacked the diversity to be one of the leaders determining a candidate. Iowa Republicans still remain first and will hold their caucus on January 15th. By state law, the Democrats must also caucus, but will do so solely for party business like selecting delegates for county conventions.
Iowa Democrats have until February 19 to request a preference card. The party will start mailing out the cards on January 12; Results will be released on March 5.
