Chicago man arrested after threating to shoot bar staff

A Chicago man is in custody after allegedly threatening to shoot bouncers at a a downtown Iowa City bar.

Police say 19-year-old Alexander Sanchez was observed by the bouncers at the Summit Bar Saturday just before 10pm, threatening to shoot and kill them. He reportedly ran from officers when they arrived on scene.  Sanchez continued to flee despite officers identifying themselves and ordering him to stop.

When he was caught, Sanchez reportedly refused to put his hands behind his back, but complied once he was told he would be tased if he didn’t. During a search, a fictitious driver’s license was discovered with Sanchez’ picture and correct day of birth, but  the date made him appear to be of legal drinking age.

An officer suffered a scratch to their hand during the arrest.

Sanchez faces charges of 1st degree Harassment, Possession of a fictitious ID, and Interference with Official Acts causing Bodily Injury. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to three years in jail.
