An Iowa City man faces up to six years in prison after reportedly leading Coralville police on a high-speed chase.

According to arrest documents, 30-year-old Charles Tate of Scott Park Road caused multiple law enforcement agencies to activate their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to pull him over near the First Avenue/I-80 interchange.  Police estimate Tate was going well over 100 miles per hour as he drove into Coralville. He eventually pulled over on the 2400 block of 14th Street.

Upon contact, officers allegedly observed marijuana in plain view inside the vehicle.  A subsequent search reportedly turned up 5 grams of the drug. The owner confirmed that Tate was driving her vehicle when contacted by police.

Tate was charged with Class D Eluding and first offense Marijuana possession.
