An Iowa City man on probation for weapons charges faces revocation after he was possibly involved in a shooting in Muscatine.

Muscatine Police say they responded to a shooting on Logan Street on May 3rd. A Rock Island Armory 1911 .45 caliber handgun was found inside a nearby apartment, as was 21-year-old Javeyel Jones.

In August, testing from the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations reportedly found Jones’ fingerprints on the gun. Jones is a convicted felon, and is thus unable to legally possess a firearm.

Jones was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 10:30 Monday morning on a probation violation. He was given a deferred judgment and three years of probation on a Dominion or Control of a Firearm By a Felon charge last year after he was seen handling a rifle at Scheel’s in Coralville and Iowa City Police found a loaded Glock 10mm handgun inside his vehicle outside his home on South Scott Boulevard.
