A Marion man could be sentenced to up to over two decades in prison after a traffic stop on northbound I380 this week led to the discovery of marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms.
A state trooper stopped a vehicle containing 19-year-old Daniel Hedgman of Terrace Street Thursday at 2:50 am as it was reportedly speeding at 83 miles per hour in the 65 miles per hour zone. The vehicle allegedly had the odor of marijuana, and the drug was reportedly seen in the vehicle. Hedgman, the passenger, allegedly admitted that there was marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms in the Nissan.
A search found 305 grams of marijuana with packaging, and over 100 grams of mushrooms packaged individually. A scale was also located near the passenger seat.
Hedgman was charged with a Class C and Class D substance violation, and two Drug Tax Stamp violations. If convicted on all counts, he could face up to 25 years in prison.
