It’s leaf vacuum season, and City of Iowa City officials are reminding residents to look for posted signs in areas where leaf pickup is about to take place.

In areas where on-street parking is heavy, “No Parking Due to Maintenance – Tow Away Zone” signs may be posted while leaf crews are in the area. The signs will be posted 48 hours in advance of the date of collection.

City officials say on the day of collection, vehicles should be removed from the street by 8 a.m. Vehicles that are found on the street in front of leaf piles will be ticketed and towed. Once the leaves have been removed, the signs will be taken down and parking will again be allowed. It is anticipated that regular on-street parking will resume by 2 p.m. that day.
