North Liberty Police say they’ve arrested a suspect accused of stealing a purse from a parked car.

22-year-old Dajohn Dyes Willis is also accused of trying to burglarize another vehicle at roughly the same time.

Arrest records indicate Dyes Willis was captured on security video trying to open the door of a locked 2023 Subaru Crosstrek parked on Penn Court just after 1:45 Tuesday afternoon. Police say a short time later, Dyes Willis successfully entered an unlocked 2007 Chrysler Town and Country parked on Sicily Court and removed a purse that was sitting on the front seat.

Officers report finding Dyes Willis a short time later going through the purse near his Westlake Road apartment building. He allegedly admitted to breaking into the vehicle and stealing the purse.

Dyes Willis is charged with 3rd Degree Burglary of a Motor Vehicle and Attempted 3rd Degree Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of three years in jail.
