Iowa State Patrol identifies West Liberty resident killed in head-on collision south of Nichols

The Iowa State Patrol has released the identity of a West Liberty resident killed in a  weekend two-vehicle accident south of Nichols.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, at about 6:00 Saturday morning a 2015 Ford Explorer was northbound on Highway 70 when it crossed the centerline near the intersection with 200th Street and struck a southbound 2011 Chevy Malibu head-on. The driver of the Malibu, now identified by the State Patrol as 43-year-old Greg Falconer, died at the scene.

The State Patrol says a four-year-old was restrained in a car seat in Falconer’s vehicle. The driver of the Explorer, now identified as 33-year-old Mikyaela Bacon of Ainsworth, and another unidentified subject  were transported via West Liberty Ambulance to the UNiversity of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with unspecified injuries.

The accident remains under investigation. Court records show a search warrant was served on Bacon on Monday.
