A Solon man was charged with domestic assault for the second time after an incident at his residence over the weekend.

Officers were called to the home of 37-year-old Brian Vincent shortly before 11pm Sunday on reports of him attacking his girlfriend. Upon arrival, a deputy spoke to Vincent, who was just leaving the house. He reportedly said that his girlfriend of two years had gotten into an argument with him and scratched his face, as evidenced by fresh blood and a cut below his left eye. Vincent then reportedly stated that he pushed the woman into a beanbag chair to get her off of him and that had been the only physical contact he had with her during the incident.

During a subsequent interview with the girlfriend, fresh redness was reportedly observed around her neck and left arm. She was unable to speak very well because her throat was irritated from Vincent allegedly choking her out.  She stated that he had gotten mad at her, punched her, and started to choke her. She admitted to scratching his face, but stated that she did so only in defense.

The couple are in an intimate relationship, and the woman told authorities that she stays over at Vincent’s home multiple times a week.  A check of his criminal record showed a previous Domestic Assault conviction from March 2020.

Vincent was charged with 2nd offense Domestic Assault and Domestic Assault impeding Airflow. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to four years in jail.

A no-contact order was requested between the two parties.
