DVIP kicks off Holiday Store project this week

The Domestic Violence Intervention Program’s Holiday Store Project kicks off this week in the Johnson County area.

In a release from DVIP, the Holiday Store provides free gifts to families that have received outreach and shelter services from the organization within the past two years. Victim-survivors are able to select toys and other gift items specific to their children’s interests and needs such as squishmallows, books, Legos,
arts and crafts supplies or department store gift cards for teenagers. In addition, children are able to select gifts for their parents/caregivers some of which include jewelry, pj’s, and self-care items like lotion sets, face masks, and bath bombs.

Residents can help stock the holidays store this year by purchasing wish list items and dropping them off at participating stores now through December 24th at the following locations:

  • First Presbyterian Church of Iowa City
  • Tamarack Discovery School in Iowa City
  • Willowwind School in Iowa City
  • Scheels in Coralville
  • Lepic Kroeger Realtors in Iowa City
  • Applebees in Coralville
  • Zen Salon and Spa in Iowa City
  • Bluebird Diner in North Liberty
  • Iowa Gym-Nest in Coralville
  • Reds Alehouse in North Liberty
  • The Serving Cafe in West Branch
