City High School was briefly locked down Wednesday afternoon after a report of shots being fired near the facility.
An email from Superintendent Matt Degner sent to district parents Wednesday afternoon indicated law enforcement was investigating the incident, which occurred in a nearby neighborhood. As a precaution, City High was placed into “Secure mode”, which includes keeping all students and staff inside the school and locking the doors. Students were not released until they had been cleared by Iowa City Police.
Because the ICPD no longer includes details in its Daily Activity log, KCJJ was unable to determine the exact address of the reported shooting.
