A Cedar Rapids man was arrested after an investigation revealed that he used his employer’s business credit card for personal purchases.

According to court documents, 22-year-old Robert Young of 26th Avenue SW was supposed to use his employer’s VISA card to fill up one of their vehicles and return the card by the end of the business day on September 15th.  However, Young allegedly kept the lawn care business’ company card and made unauthorized personal purchases over a three-day period, including a hotel room and purchases at Dollar General.

In total, Young reportedly ran up over $1600 in unauthorized personal purchases. He allegedly admitted to the reporting party that he misused the card.

A warrant was issued for Young’s arrest; he was taken into custody early Saturday and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted.
