Cedar Rapids Police are investigating a Monday afternoon shooting that sent a woman to the hospital.

A release from the PD indicates Joint Communications Dispatchers received a call of shots-fired just after 3pm in the 500 block of 10th St SW, a few blocks west of Taylor Elementary School. While investigators were on-scene, a single, adult female was delivered to a local hospital by private vehicle and reported being shot.  Her condition is listed as serious, but not life-threatening.

Following standard protocol, officers advised administrators at Taylor to lock down their facility while officers and investigators secured the scene and ensured student and staff safety.  The lockdown was lifted within 20 minutes of the initial report, and no students or staff were involved.
