A Quad Cities man was arrested by Iowa City Police on weapons and drug charges early Sunday morning.

According to arrest records, a vehicle being driven by 22-year-old Ashaun Emory of Rock Island was stopped on Market Street near Dubuque Street for driving the wrong way on a one-way street. As Emory exited the vehicle, he allegedly admitted to placing a handgun under his seat, although he said he had a proper permit. A search of the vehicle reportedly turned up the gun, as well as a backpack containing marijuana, a digital scale, and the gun permit. A bag of marijuana was also allegedly found on Emory’s person. The total amount of marijuana was measured at 48.9 grams.

Emory was arrested and charged with Person Ineligible to Carry a Dangerous Weapon, a Controlled Substance Violation and Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp. If convicted on all charges, Emory faces a maximum of 11 years in prison.
