Multiple agencies responded to a Friday night fire at the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort.
Washington County dispatch records indicate firefighters from Riverside, Hills, Kalona and Ainsworth descended on the casino just after 6:15 p.m. for a fire in the trash compactor at the back of the Highway 22 facility. Initial reports indicated the compacter was attached to the building, but casino officials reached out to KCJJ on Monday to clarify that was not the case.
First-arriving firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, with crews from Hills and Ainsworth told to disregard before they could arrive on the scene.
There were no reported injuries, and casino officials told KCJJ the damage was limited to burnt trash inside the compacter.
