An Illinois woman was arrested twice by Iowa City Police early Sunday morning for drunk driving.

Police first stopped a 2005 Toyota Camry being driven by 19-year-old Daijana Rush of Milan for failure to dim and for having a brake light out just before 12:15 a.m. near the intersection of Washington and Gilbert Streets. Rush reportedly showed signs of intoxication, admitted to drinking and performed poorly on field sobriety testing. Her breath alcohol level was measured at .113%. Police say Rush gave a fake name and date of birth, claiming she did not have her license on her person. Once arrested for Operating While Intoxicated, she allegedly admitted to her true identity and claimed she was lying because she did not have a license. She was additionally charged with Providing False Identity Information.

Despite the arrest, Rush was again seen driving her Camry near the intersection of Dubuque and Jefferson Streets just before 2:45 Sunday morning…less than an hour after she had been booked into the Johnson County Jail on the previous charges. She was pulled over for that reason and for the same equipment violation, and she allegedly still showed signs of impairment. Police say she also showed what they describe as “horrendous judgement”, and they add she had a problem controlling her emotions.  Rush’s BAC was measured at .075%, and a pre-screen of her urine reportedly came back positive for THC. She was booked into the Johnson County Jail a second time just after 3:45 a.m. and now faces an additional OWI charge as well as a charge of Driving While Suspended.
