The University of Iowa women’s wrestling program begins its debut season as a top ten program.
The Hawkeyes are ranked #8 in the pre-season poll from the National Wrestling Coaches Association, tied with Lock Haven. Defending national champion North Central College sits atop the poll, which was released on Thursday. Iowa and the #1 Cardinals will both compete in the North Central Open Sunday, December 10th in Naperville, Illinois.
The Hawkeyes face a number of ranked teams this season, including opening the season at #7 East Stroudsburg on Saturday, November 4th. Iowa hosts #5 Sacred Heart, #11 Lindenwood and #13 Presbyterian in the Trailblazer Duels at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday, November 12th.
