An Iowa City man who allegedly stole a set of keys that opened doors to multiple downtown businesses faces 2nd degree theft charges.
According to the arrest report, 32-year-old Jesse Love of 500th Street SW took a set of keys from the alley of the Fieldhouse on South Dubuque just before 5am August 25th. The set of keys reportedly belonged to a local beer distributor, and the key ring had keys to 15 different Iowa City businesses. The cost to the beer distributor to replace the locks to those businesses was over $2000.
During a subsequent interview, Love reportedly admitted to the theft.
A warrant was requested for Love’s arrest, and he was arrested Tuesday morning at the Flint Creek manufactured housing community in Wellman.
Love was booked at the Johnson County Jail Tuesday evening. He faces a prison sentence of up to five years if convicted on the Theft charge.
