An Iowa City man who allegedly followed female customers around a downtown gift store and masturbated earlier this month has been arrested for indecent exposure.
The incident occurred the afternoon of October 4 at Om Gifts for Body and Soul on South Linn Street. 25-year-old Deshawn Brown, also of South Linn, was allegedly caught on camera walking around the store following female customers while masturbating. Police say Brown committed a sex act by physically touching and stimulating his genitalia for the purpose of sexual arousal. The video reportedly shows Brown watching a female adult while touching his clothed genitalia. The store owner alleged that there was a child present in the store, but the video could not confirm this.
Last December 28th, Brown was seen by a witness and on business surveillance camera masturbating inside Laundromania on Mormon Trek Boulevard at around 8:30pm. Officers approached Brown and reportedly witnessed him with an erect penis, sitting on a chair inside the laundromat.
Brown allegedly matched the description given and admitted to masturbating. He pleaded guilty in July and received a deferred judgement with two years of probation.
Brown was charged again with Indecent Exposure, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to a year if convicted.
