Over three dozen Pro-Palestine supporters held a protest on the University of Iowa Pentacrest Sunday afternoon.

The Daily Iowan reports the protest included speeches from different organizations and chants from those in attendance. The protest was organized by Iowans for Peace, Veterans for Peace, and Iowans for Palestine.

The crowd called for a ceasefire and for the federal government to help the parties negotiate a peaceful end to the war. Newman Abuissa, chair of the Arab American Caucus in the Iowa Democratic Party, called for the US to stop providing munitions and military hardware to Israel.  Another speaker, Iowans for Palestine coordinator Yaser AbuDagga, said that the killing of Palestinan civilians should be condemned the same as the deaths of Israeli civilians.

The DI quoted Coralville resident Rami Abu Hijleh, who said, “Nobody, nobody accepts or agrees with innocent people being killed, whether they are Israelis or Palestinians.”
