An Atalissa woman was arrested over the weekend for driving while barred, then added to her charges by allegedly attempting to run from a sheriff’s deputy during a bathroom stop.

28-year-old Paige Neuzil of 102nd Street was called in for driving away from the Regency Trailer Court towards Iowa City in a white Cadillac Saturday afternoon.  The deputy found the vehicle parked on Isaac Walton Road, with Neuzil sitting in the passenger seat.  She later reportedly admitted having warrants out of Muscatine County and admitted to driving, as there was no one else in the vehicle when the deputy arrived.

Neuzil’s driving status was found as barred, and she had previously been charged for driving while barred in Johnson County four times last year.

As she was being transported to Jail, Neuzil allegedly said she had an urgent need to use the bathroom, so the deputy made a stop at the Johnson County Fairgrounds so she could use the facilities.  Neuzil then reportedly slipped a handcuff and took off running. She was caught a short time later.

Neuzil faces Driving While Barred and Interference with Official Acts charges, and could be sentenced to up to 25 months in jail if convicted.
