An Iowa City man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly committed sex offender violations.

Police say 31-year-old Antwan Davis has been on the sex offender registry and knows that he needs to register his current address at frequent intervals. A warrant had been issued for failure to register out of Blackhawk County, and officers located Davis at a residence on the 1100 block of Muscatine Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

Davis initially refused to come outside and was not cooperating with officers, only speaking to them through a window.  He later came out and allegedly stated he had been living in Iowa City for six months and had been living at that residence for about three months.  Davis also reportedly admitted that he hadn’t registered his address or his vehicle with the county Sheriff’s office.

Davis also allegedly mentioned that his girlfriend on scene stays with him and that she has children.

Davis was taken to the Johnson County Jail and charged with 1st offense Sex Offender Verification Violation, and 2nd or subsequent Sex Offender Registration Violation.  If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
